Ruiri Catholic Mission Health Centre (St. John Paul II), is a level 3, faith-based medical institution dedicated to serving people through the best medical practice. It is registered and licensed by relevant bodies to offer Out-patient services, Laboratory services, maternity services, pharmaceutical services and ambulance services. It is run by the Conventual Franciscan Friars in the Catholic diocese of Meru, Kenya. It is in Ruiri Catholic Mission, next to Ruiri market along the Ruiri/Kianjai road.
Established in 1986 as a dispensary and in 2005 raised to the level of a health centre, this facility has been a source of relief and timely intervention for the medical situations in the community around, albeit at the basic level. Notably, over the years, the population around has grown considerably and epidemiological needs have equally expanded. Significant progress has been realized in the last few years towards closing the gap but a lot more still needs to be done.
Top on our list is at the moment is to work towards elevating this facility to a level 4 medical facility. At that level our services will meet most of the needs in the community. Plans are underway to expand the infrastructure and introduce new services. By God’s grace we hope to achieve that in three years.
